Combining in-depth interviews with secondary research, this paper assesses vulnerabilities in the domestic work and home care sector created by 19 job platforms in Spain. Focusing on formalization, working conditions, and information asymmetry, the authors find that these platforms’ control over information weakens workers’ bargaining power and reinforces the precariousness of labor markets. They recommend regulating jobs platforms and strengthening labor unions to help uphold minimum standards and address the “triple discrimination” faced by women who are migrants and low-income workers.
