This comprehensive World Bank report makes the case for gender equality as a core development objective and driver of economic growth and poverty reduction. The report, which stresses that gender equality is “smart economics,” identifies anumber of priority areas, including reducing gender gaps in education and health, access to economic opportunities, voice and agency, and limiting the reproduction of gender inequality across generations. It makes a strong case for investments in human capital, eliminating institutional barriers, and adopting proactive measures to ensure equitable outcomes.
