This report is an assessment of the housing sector and the housing policy environment in Belize. Its goal is to provide an analysis of the housing sector in Belize focused on its parameters, potentials, and pitfalls, in order to assist the Government and various stakeholders in the housing sector in ensuring access to quality and affordable housing by all in the coming years. The objective of the report is to provide the conceptual framework for evidence-based decision making. The report is divided in four chapters the context of the housing sector; (ii) an assessment of the current conditions in the sector; (iii) examinations of the housing policy environment, and; (iv) a proposal of guidelines for action in housing. Here we highlight some of the main findings and policy recommendations, that we consider key to improve the functioning of the housing sector in Belize.
