Regional High Level Meeting

Created Oct 01 2013, 9:47 PM by Valrie Grant

Last November, key decision makers in our organizations, heads of GIS Departments, GIS Managers, Heads of agencies, National GIS Coordinators, academia, donor agency representatives and professionals from private sector organizations within the geospatial arena, gathered together as a regional community for the Regional High Level Meeting (RHLM).

There we tackled the issues affecting GIS users across the Caribbean and formulated strategies towards establishing a regional framework for Geo-spatial
Information Management. The  attached Resolutions  are a result of that meeting. We invite your feedback.

Additionally, this information is presented as we make preparations for the second staging of the Regional High Level Meeting, to be held in conjunction with the Caribbean Regional Workshop, November 6-8, 2013, hosted by the URISA Caribbean Chapter in St. Maarten.   This forum will continue the discussion and evaluate the progress and resolutions made towards the establishment of the Regional Spatial Data Infrastructure (RSDI) as well as develop action plans for key SDI issues affecting the region.

Please Join the URISA Caribbean Chapter in St Maarten - November 6-8, 2013.  The URISA Caribbean Regional Workshop on Open Source Technologies and Web Mapping aims to:

  1. Provide informative application-driven workshops and sessions geared towards increasing the knowledge of GIS professionals and related disciplines in the area of effective internet mapping technologies and facilitating return on investment.
  2. Function as the medium that continues to encourage the regional GIS network of professionals.
  3. Serve as a forum to discuss progress made towards our Regional Spatial Data Infrastructure (RSDI).
