Municipal Finance and Creditworthiness Academy - Washington DC - Live Posting
We are happy to announce that the Municipal Finance and Creditworthiness Academy is about to begin in Washington DC!
The Academy will run from December 5 to December 8 and it's organized in partnership with the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities. The training will provide capacity building to to selected cities, local and central government agencies from all over the world on areas such as financial management, planning and budgeting, own source revenue enhancement and capital investment planning. 25 representatives from 9 countries will participates!
Follow live updates, pictures, clips, quotes, (fun) facts, and (some) serious issues, as they happen at the Academy. Stay tuned!
The Academy has just begun! Sameh Naguib Wahba, Director for Urban and Territorial Development, Disaster Risk Management, and Resilience of the World Bank has joined us to welcome the participants and to start off this exciting training!

Today the Managing Director of UNIDO; Mr Philippe Scholtes, has joined us for a brief opening remark. UNIDO is one of the participating agencies in the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities, who is co-hosting the Academy together with the World Bank City Creditworthiness Initiative.
On Tuesday, Professor Jan Whittington, explained how to develop, evaluate and select proposals for cost-effective, low carbon, resilient projects to prepare a Climat-Smart Capital Investment Plan. You can find in the following links the Climate-Smart CIP Model and Guidebook

And now is Action Planning time! Participants are working with the support of the Academy facilitators to reach consensus on a Draft Action Plan aimed at improving the financial management performance of their particular city. Everyone is very busy in discussing and completing our on-line Self Assessment and Action Planning tool! Check it out: www.citycred.org
