The Transport Anchor, in collaboration with several regions, has been running several offerings of a “Leaders in Urban Transport Planning” program, aimed at capacity development of key decision makers in client countries. The focus of the capacity development is on comprehensive and holistic planning for urban transport. So far 9 offerings of the program have been completed and over 300 participants, from over 30 countries, have gone through this program. These programs have been conducted in English, French, Spanish and Chinese. There is a possibility of programs being offered in Arabic, Russian, Vietnamese and Portuguese as well.
The program largely uses the case study method for teaching and it is this pedagogy that has been most attractive to the participants. However, use of the case study method requires capabilities both in writing and teaching case studies – a skill that is not easily available.
It is in this context that we are proposing to hold a 3 day case writing and teaching workshop at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC from 12th to 14th June, 2013.
