A systemic review of 419 studies across 14 developing countries sheds light on the relationships between aspirations, agriculture, and women’s empowerment, finding strong evidence that raising aspirations of rural poor can empower women and lead to more egalitarian gender attitudes. Identified strategies to encourage higher aspirations for rural women include role models and mentoring, recognizing achievements and celebrating success, social and economic networking, increasing access to resources, education (including digital literacy), entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion.
