This doctoral thesis breaks down Bangladeshi male attitudes toward WEE into three categories – antagonists, allies, and advocates – and seeks to explain how differing positions help or hinder female employment in low-income communities. One of the many interesting findings is that women overwhelmingly desire “advocate” men who demonstrate progressive masculinities that lead to better marital relations and more peaceful households.
