This paper provides new evidence on the impact of a one-time cash transfer during a severe global downturn. In this research, an unconditional cash transfer was delivered via mobile money to vulnerable female micro-entrepreneurs in Dandora, Kenya. The transfer helped women micro-entrepreneurs maintain their livelihoods. Profit increases by 40 percent, making up approximately one-third of the decline observed during the initial shutdown.
