Can legal reforms promote shifts in perceptions of women in the economy? Drawing on case studies of six countries (Iceland, Peru, Rwanda, The Philippines, Tunisia, and the United States), this paper categorizes laws that impede women’s economic empowerment and how the law can be used to create behavioral change. It concludes that removing legal impediments is effective for catalyzing women’s economic participation. Read more
