One of three volumes focusing on how to advance Women’s STEM careers, this report distills findings from five case studies to provide insights into how to support women’s STEM careers in infrastructure. Each case study describes a different context and measures implemented to attract, recruit, retain, and advance women to managerial and leadership roles. The case studies —from Ethiopia, Laos, North Macedonia, Panama, and Solomon Islands—were identified through extensive desk review, followed by interviews with practitioners and women’s employment experts from around the world. The discussions aimed to shed light on practical ways that governments and infrastructure organizations are working together to find ways to increase opportunities for women in the infrastructure sectors.
