This IFC study, one of the first in the region, covers 20 private commercial banks across Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka and spotlights opportunities for achieving more equitable work outcomes for women employees. The report identifies five key barriers – inequitable hiring, inadequate professional development, sociocultural constraints, lack of fair evaluations, and non-conducive work environments – and offers recommendations for industry actors (i.e., C-suite leaders in commercial banks, policymakers, industry bodies, and investors).
