Welcome to the WePOWER Network website!

                WePOWER is a vibrant voluntary Women’s Professional Network
 in Energy and Power Sector in South Asia
                     to Promote Female Engineers and Female Engineering Students
                  Collaborating with key Institutional Partners and Individual Members.

We convene, collaborate and communicate latest research, insights and evidence to support workforce participation of women in energy projects and institutions, and promote normative change regarding women and girls in STEM education.


The chart above illustrates the five key pillars of engagement for WePOWER. Each pillar with have their own goals and activities to help close the employment gap for women in the South Asian power sector.




This website is created for the WePOWER Network partners and members across the world to:

1)    To support WePOWER Partners’ activities;
2)    To promote the target beneficiaries (female engineers and female engineering students);
3)    To exchange ideas and lessons learned;
4)    To access useful practical resources; and
5)    To strengthen and expand partnership and resource mobilization.

Our Mission

The mission of WePOWER is to promote women in the energy and power sector in the eight South Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.


The objectives of WePOWER are to i) support workforce participation of women in energy projects and institutions and ii) promote normative change regarding women in STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, and Math) education.

    The South Asia Women in Power Sector Professional Network (WePOWER) - is a dynamic, cross-disciplinary body of South Asian energy sector institutions as well as South Asian women engineers and practitioners in the energy sector, and women engineering students and other interested researchers from different countries and sectoral themes. WePOWER aims to promote female practitioners in the energy and power sector: to support greater participation of women in energy projects and utilities, and promote normative change regarding women in Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

STEM Orientation & Career Counseling for High School Students

[September 9, 2019 - Lahore, Pakistan]

A STEM education orientation and career counseling for pre-engineering and high school girls was arranged at WAPDA Inter-College and WAPDA Girls High School, Ghazi Barotha, respectively. Aspiring young girls expressed their motivation for enrolling into STEM education.
