The reaction of the spread of the Ebola virus by the different levels of government in the U.S.--with its international and domestic intergovernmental implications will need sorting out. Within an hour of writing this, the U.S. Pentagon called for emergency medical assistance via the Arlington County Fire Department in fear of a suspected case of Ebola in the Pentagon parking lot.

Calls by some in the U.S. Congress have exposed both the fear politicians can conjure, as well as a vast misapprehension of how travel and borders are distinct in West Africa. The virus offers great global risk--and mayhap even greater challenges to governance at all three levels in countries around the globe.
