    The food security system in India is referred as Public Distribution System [PDS]. The Department of Food and Public Distribution under the ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution is tasked to provide subsidized food and non food items to the Below Poverty Line [BPL] families. This Targeted PDS is undergoing a lot of change recent times by computerizing the various processes and linking the stakeholders through a common portal.


    The Status Paper on computerization of PDS by the Ministry provide insights on the digitization of stakeholders data, Ration card digitization, online allocation, Supply Chain Management, availability of state portal and availability of grievance redressal Mechanism  in various states of India.
