    2016-2017 "Integrated Water Management" Master program at the German-Kazakh University

    Dear candidates from Central Asia and Afghanistan!

    We are happy to inform you of the Master’s program called "Integrated Water Management" (MA IWM) at the German-Kazakh University in Almaty (GKU)!

    MA IWM builds upon the knowledge required in undergraduate studies of Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social Science. The Program focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to water management. Students will be equipped with the technical knowledge to answer all the relevant institutional, political, legal, ecological and economic questions that have an impact on water management in Central Asia. The Program's objective is to train young professionals from Central Asia and Afghanistan, and share best international practices to help solve the water and environmental challenges on all levels. Mainly German teaching staff are presenting the vast experience of Germany and other European countries in the field of sustainable water management. The study program is accompanied by students' active participation in scientific projects and practical field activities. Interactive teaching methods and a high ratio of self-study make the course unique and effective.

    The program is designed for a two-year full-time study and takes place at the German-Kazakh University.

    MA IWM admission requirements:

     Citizens from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan

     Admission requires a Bachelor's degree, completed with honors in Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences or in Engineering. Graduates in Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities with practical work experience (min 3 years) in water resources management, environmental studies or water engineering are also eligible.
