The article presents the PV rural electricity tariff regulation implemented in Peru aiming to guarantee an economic sustainability to the PV rural power utility. The PV rural power utility changes the paradigm and technology to supply the electric service to far away and scattered rural consumers. The use of PV technology instead of traditional grid technology means a change in the view for provision of the electric public service. However, to make possible the electricity bill payment of low income rural consumers requires a Government policy of consumption subsidy. Finally, there is a description of Fund for Social Compensation of Electricity (FOSE) consumption subsidy.
