Webinar IRENA (2013) - Skills Needs and Education for a Robust Renewable Energy Workforce

IRENA estimates that the renewable energy sector employed as many as 5.7 million people worldwide in 2012. Yet despite this, there remains a critical shortage of skilled personnel to develop, design, finance, build, operate and maintain renewable energy projects, representing one of the greatest barriers to the wider diffusion of renewable energy technologies.

This webinar highlights the skills in demand in the public and private sectors, identifies skills shortages within sub-sectors, and shares information on training and education, critical to develop a strong workforce in the renewable energy arena. The webinar also examines barriers and consider steps to address the skills needs in the sector.

The webinar brings together expert panelists from the European Energy Centre (EEC), an internationally recognized non-profit training institute; Alingho, a human resources firm which supports companies in the fields of renewable energies, clean tech and sustainability to fill job vacancies; and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA).
