International Center for Research on Women Event: The Business Case for Inclusive Energy Solutions
(There will be a livestream, for those who can't join in person)

Summary: As attention and investment becomes increasingly focused on enhancing energy access worldwide, we know that we still have a lot to learn about who has access, who doesn’t and why gaps in access remain. This knowledge would help shape targeted strategies for reaching underserved customers with reliable energy solutions and enabling them to live healthier, more productive and safer lives.

Initiatives that aim to bridge this divide should be based on an informed strategy for responding to women's unmet needs and working with them to find their own solutions. For businesses, this means integrating gender throughout company value chains - from design to production to marketing. Evidence supporting the business case is nascent but growing. And there is a growing understanding that some challenges may require approaches that are not market-based but funded through subsidies and grant-based programs that meet the needs of the most marginalized groups by creating a responsive energy market. Our December Insights to Action will bring together researchers, practitioners and policy experts to discuss the business case for gender integration, which is showing promising outcomes for energy enterprises and initiatives. We'll also be discussing the challenges we have faced along the way and the lessons we have learned which are informing our work in clean energy.
