Hello and welcome to the City Climate Planner Certificate Program (CCP), a training and professional certificate program that aims to increase the global talent base of climate planning professionals.
What is the CCP?
CITIES ACCOUNT FOR TWO THIRDS OF THE WORLD’S OVERALL ENERGY CONSUMPTION and about 70% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. With urban populations booming, the choices local governments make today about managing their emissions and preparing for climate change will have major impacts on the health and economic well-being of their city. Because of this, climate planning is more important than ever. However, cities often do not have the skills, resources or capacity needed to implement quality climate action plans; which are based on a strong foundation of GHG emission inventories and climate vulnerability assessments.
To help build capacity in local-level climate planning, the World Bank and global partners are developing the City Climate Planner Certificate Program (CCP), a training and professional certificate program that aims to increase the global talent base of climate planning professionals. This program will offer training on the latest internationally accepted standards and protocols for city climate planning, a rigorous certificate exam that allows candidates to demonstrate mastery of climate planning knowledge, and access to professional networks that support this work.
