Manipur is consider to be the gateway of India to the South East Asia. It is predicted Manipur shall be one of economic hubs recognised all over the world. The economy of the people of Manipur is low. However, the literacy rate is above average as compared to others. Besides, the healthcare is an area where many bodies including the government and private players are giving importance. The people of Manipur are good in skill especially in hospitality. The enthusiasm of learning is an appreciable quality of the people. The new generation comprises of various diversified professions such as doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, armies etc. and a big opportunity is now ahead of us which we need to grab and develop. The place needs to focus into investment and establishment of hospital that can attracts people from other parts of the world for treatment. While the under-served population of the region will also have the opportunity to avail the facilities of these medical facilities. At present, the people goes out to metro cities of India for treatment. There are instances where the family have to sell off their properties to afford the treatment. Thus, it is also an opportunity to introduce insurance in their lives for a better livelihood.

This is just a beginning of sharing an idea which might become a reality for all of us when we come together to support each other and develop together.

It is true. The health care infrastructure has to be built in these areas. The public are suffering due to shortage of hospitals and they are suppose to move towards other parts of India. Further, the geographical location and distance to reach the health care facilities remains a Challenge.

Thanks for your support and concern. We have been dedicating ourselves in developing these areas in healthcare. The geographical location and distance is no longer a hindrance, rather its an opportunity. Its a golden chance for us to develop the healthcare facilities and attract medical tourist to these areas. Comparing to other places where healthcare are at the best these areas are more environment and patient friendly. We have to make these places the ultimate destinations for healthcare of the world. Besides, we have to work together to reach the under-served in the areas rather waiting for them to reach the facility. This is where we need to brainstorm and generate the ideas. HCD can played a big role here.

Thanks for sharing your experience here. Please keep sharing. Lets work together.

dear mr sureshthokchom,i appreciate your insights and practical difficulties in Manipur.Really it is important to bring health care at the door steps of community in these diffficult terrains. i have also seen the trends of rising IDUs and HIV prevelence in the area ,highlighting need for incresing awareness regarding various diseases and advocating for early diagnosis and treatment of various diseaases .Theer is urgent need to build heatlh care infrastracture in rural areas and difficult terrains to reduce the disease burden in community.

Thanks Dr Rajesh. The awareness level of these people are much lesser and quacks are still prevailing in few areas. I am talking about the villages which are in a radius of 80 - 90 kms. But the villagers beyond this we may also find people who are not more aware. I have witnessed children out-casted for having a cleft lip and regard this deformities as a result of ill manner in past life. Delivery was forced to be done without any help from any midwives in a cowshed. The mortality rate in these areas are quite high even though the population residing in these underserved area is very low.

Anyway, thanks for your support and we welcome your ideas to make these area a better one. We are also doing what we can to serve these people and beyond.

                  Thanks
