Mario Joao Gomes Mario J. Gomes, a Mozambican national, is a private sector developer with more than 15 years of experience, currently working for the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan as Principal Advisory Services Officer under the Private Sector, Infrastructure and Industrialization VP. From 2017 to 2019, he was working between Mozambique and China, for the International Trade Center - World Trade Organization (WTO) & the United Nations (UN) as the National Project Manager/ Investment Expert, connecting Mozambican companies in Agroprocessing/Manufacturing sectors with Chinese Investors to create jobs in Mozambique. He was dealing with Private Sector players - International Development Agencies/Donors, Financial Institutions, Consulting Firms, Corporate firms, Business Associations, and Public Sector (Promotion Investment Agencies, Ministries, Sectorial Institutes, Industrial Parks/ Economic Free Zones). From 2006 to 2017, he worked for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private arm of the World Bank Group across Sub-Saharan Africa (Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Zambia, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia/Somaliland, Lesotho, DR. Congo, Rwanda, Angola, Madagascar, Comoros & Uganda). His work focused on Small Medium Enterprises (SME)/Local Economic Development (Linkages, Value Chain, Capacity Building, Skills Development), which led to access to finance and access to markets. He has experience managing projects for financial institutions/corporate firms interested in supporting SME clients, suppliers, and/or distributors. For 10 years, he taught at University subjects such as Financial Maths, Cost Accounting/Financial Management, held other posts such as Academic/Project coordinator at Polytechnic University, the first private Business School in Mozambique. Mario J. Gomes is a Chartered Accountant from Instituto Comercial, holds a double honours degree in Business Administration and Accounting/ Auditing, from Universidade Politécnica, an MBA in Project Management & an MDA in Sustainable Development both from Instituto Superior de Gestão. In September 2020, he began an MSc/MBA in Oil and Gas at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen Business School.
Ali H Al-Hakim Currently interested in rural development. I've been working in the rural electrification sector since 2011 and am interested to understand it better. More specifically I am very interested to know how rural electrification can have a significant impact on community growth and development and what is the best way to do it.
