The study team conducted a literature review to look globally at established indicators and survey instruments used to measure health care integration. This background paper details the results of the preliminary literature review, conducted in 2014. This paper shares the full inventory of possible health care integration indicators across care settings. To compile this inventory, the study team reviewed the national health system performance frameworks of several OECD countries, as well the literature on health system performance measurement, health care quality, and care coordination and management.
