Description:

In aggregate, fuel savings can be substantial since quality cookstoves reduce fuel consumption by approximately 50 per cent. This produce fuel savings worth between US$36 and US$73 million over the five years of the intervention above what the market would have created on its own. The additional carbon reductions accumulate to US$35 million. This assumes three carbon credits per ICS per year at a carbon credit value of US$7 and that all new ICS are eligible and apply for carbon finance.

 

Description of the RBF Scheme:

Supplier focused: Payment for every additional ICS sold that meets certain quality standards; Payment for every additional ICS sold that meets certain quality standards and for which use can be demonstrated.

Consumer focused: Voucher for consumers to purchase a certain quality ICS;Payment for every loan made to consumers to buy a certain quality ICS
