Dear Urban Transport CoP members,

We would like to share with you a booklet on "Leaders in Urban Transport Planning" Program - a capacity building and knowledge exchange program of the World Bank team.

This capacity building program has been in existence for over 5 years and has focused on helping city transport leaders gain the skills necessary to identify, prepare, and implement holistic solutions to complex urban transport issues.  Delivered in over 30 locations world wide so far, this program has been very successful in enhancing skills among participants and demand for additional offerings continue to increase.  A number of Bank colleagues have participated in this program.

This program has been developed by the Bank's Transport anchor together with the operational units and has partnered with a number of institutions, including Land Transport Authority, Singapore, Korea Transport Institute, Seoul, Center for Environmental Planning and Technology, Ahmedabad, India, French Development Agency, Cooperation for urban mobility in the developing world (CODATU), EMBARQ, International Association of Public Transport (UITP), and Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Lagos.

Support for this program has been received from ESMAP, PPIAF, KGGTF, and AusAid.

This guidebook describes the structure of this program and outlines the Why, the Who, the What, the How, and the Where of this learning program.

Best regards,

Cholpon
