My name is Bruce Summers, I am a consultant at the World Bank Group. I provide coaching and premium advisory services on Collaboration and Communities of Practice. I am interested in designing cities for the future. Affordable housing is an interest, but not something I specialize in. When I served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the Eastern Caribbean, I saw many types of housing - a small functional 3 bedroom - cinderblock home development seemed very functional, I could picture myself living there. On another island I saw a very poor village where many houses were made with flattened metal "biscuit-tins", I could not visualize living in one of these, but, the people in this village seemed very happy. So, I wonder, Affordable Housing... how do you all balance/measure/provide - functional, happy, and affordable? I look forward to learning more.
