This document is an actual credit file of a farmer borrower at a U.S. bank, from 1951. It is fun and interesting just as a piece of history. More practically, it shows the level of detail that banks used to document their loans to farmers, the amount of historical data they collected, and their method of analysis. Some of the notes are amusing, like the description of the farmer’s character (“he spends too much time on the road”), and the fact that the farmer forgot to mention a lien taken by another bank on one of his cows!
