Partnering with private companies (including BRAC, a telecom operator, and a mobile money operator) and funded by Korea World Bank Group Partnership Facility (KWPF), the team led by Asuka Okumura and Christopher Brett has successfully launched a loan product in two townships in East Bago region of Myanmar. For the three lending cycles of the pilot, the team took an iterative approach to keep developing and refining product with every cycle. The 1st loan was launched in November 2018 to 200+ farmers with 100% repayment rate, and the 2nd loan was launched in June 2019 to 450+ farmers with 100% repayment. The 3rd and last cycle was just disbursed in November 2019 to 750+ farmers. The team shared the early lessons from the field.
