The webinar provided an overview of the Guidelines for Sustainable Aquabusiness Development, which are being developed by Word Bank's Aquabusiness Investment Advisory Platform. The Platform is supported by PROBLUE and is a joint undertaking amongst World Bank Group teams, clients and partners. The participants heard from the experts of Advance Africa Management Services, which has been contracted to develop and disseminate the guidelines.
The guidelines present the necessary requirements, analytics and enabling factors for investments in aquaculture that are feasible, durable, socially acceptable, and economically viable. They will be designed in such a way that they can be adapted by aquaculture stakeholders at all levels for developing sustainable aqua-business plans and aqua-businesses. Users will include national governments, private sector investors, development partners, NGOs, donors, research organizations and other stakeholders working on agriculture, climate change, and environmental issues.
