Technical description
By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 28.02.2008 № 133 the Republic of Belarus acceded to the European Agreement on Main Inland Waterways of International Importance, which is considered as a coordinated plan for the development and construction of a network of inland waterways of international importance, which also include the Belarusian section of the waterway E40 (river Visla from Gdansk to Warsaw-Bres-Pinsk-river Dniepr through Kiev to Kherson).
Currently, a number of facilities of Dniepr-Bug Channel that is a part of E40 waterway connections has considerable deterioration and does not meet current requirements of environmental safety. In this connection, the reconstruction of hydraulic facilities of the Dnieper-Bug Channel is carried out in Belarus. Currently 5 shipping gateways has been renovated (Novosady, Duboy, Kobrin, Trishin, Zaluz'e (commissioned in 2015), allowing the passage of vessels with length of 110 m, width 12 m and with a draft of 2.2 m. Shipping gateway “Zaluz’e” before and after the reconstruction.
Channel reconstruction is continuing and in 2015 the reconstruction of the shipping gateway "Ragodosch" has started.
