Road project. Upgrade. The road M21 Chisinau-Dubasari-Ukrainian border belong to the International Transport Corridor IX Helsinki-S.Peterburg-Pskov-Moscova-Kiev-Ljubase-Chişinău-Bucureşti-Dimitrovgrad-Alexandropoulis and is a connection to TEN-T network. Road M21 is the shortest link between Chisinau and Dubasari, providing access to Kirovograd and Poltava in Ukraine. It is an integral part of the European highway E 584 Poltava - Kirovograd - Chisinau - Galati - Slobozia. At km 15 Road M21 intersects with Road M14.

Technical description
Road M21 was constructed between 1961 and 1965. The pavement is comprised of lengths of concrete slabs with intermittent sections of bituminous roadway, and the technical parameters of the road are appropriate for a Category III road according to SNiP Standards 2.05.02-85. The road sector km 30+400 to km 40+100 was widened to four lanes between 1984 and 1986.

 

The project has the following characteristics:
  • Length: 50 km
  • Number of Lanes: from km 15 to km 30 2 lanes; from km 30 to km 40  3-4 lanes; from km 40 to km 65 2 lanes.
  • Number of bridges: 5

The project is included in the Transport and Logistic Strategy for 2013-2022 approved by Government Decision at 27.10.2013 nr. 827.

Feasibility study and project documentation was elaborated in 2009 and needs update to 2016 prices. The project is ready for implementation

Implementation of this project will attract international traffic, improve travel costs reduction, increase safety, save travel time and contribute to re-balancing transport modes.
