The rapid deployment of renewable energy technologies can pose numerous challenges for energy related stakeholders when local technicians lack the necessary skills to install and maintain systems. Quality vocational training is needed in order to ensure that technicians adhere to protection and safety guidelines and utilize best practices in the design and installation of renewable energy systems. This webinar will introduce the Vocational Training and Education for Clean Energy (VOTEC) programme, led by Arizona State University with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the solar installer certification training being carried out by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The purpose of this webinar is to share lessons learned and best practices from ongoing capacity building activities in West Africa and the Pacific Islands.
I have been learning much lately about PICO-SOLAR practices.
Coming from a traditional background of grid-tie and Off-grid residential and commercial installations here in the US I am keenly aware of the Operations & Management issues involved with traditional solar installations and the need for training, and for off-grid systems, battery maintenance and service.
I trust these sorts of traditional issues will be addressed in this webinar. I am also rather curious about how some of these same issues impact the experience so far with PICO-Solar. Any info that can be included in this upcoming webinar in this regard will be greatly appreciated !
Thanks in advance !
