Improving public transportation

I participated today in a briefing provided by the CEO and CFO of the Riverside Transit Agency.  https://www.riversidetransit.com   Riverside County includes 26 cities, as well as vast, rural unincorporated areas.  Liquid natural gas (LNG) is the fuel of choice for its large bus fleet, that benefits from 'cap and trade' legislation Low Transit Carbon Operations Program (LTCOP).

What was exciting to me was learning about RTA's Transportation Now citizen involvement.  Advocacy groups from all over the county providing input on transit needs that result in ridership that fills buses, stopping at locations convenient to the riders. I learned about the important of utilization surveys.

I wondered how transportation planning is done in other combined urban/rural region serving members of this group???
