2nd Annual RENEW MENA Conference: May 20-23, 2024 in Amman, Jordan

This year, RENEW MENA will host the 2nd Annual Conference of Partners, Steering Committee Members and Collaborators of the Regional Network in Energy for Women in the Middle East and North Africa in Amman, Jordan from May 20-23, 2024. 

Background

On May 20-23, the Regional Network in Energy for Women in the Middle East, and North Africa (RENEW MENA) will hold its second annual conference in Amman, Jordan. Supported by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), RENEW MENA is a regional platform that aims to i) boost women’s economic participation across the energy sector value chain, specifically in jobs related to the clean energy transition; ii) encourage better workplace conditions for women in both the private and public sectors, and iii) combat widespread gender stereotypes about women’s role in STEM fields and increase their visibility in the energy sector. Since its launch in June 2022, RENEW MENA has reached 25 institutional and strategic partnerships that include national utilities, private sector, and academia in Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, and West Bank and Gaza. It is also growing a network of over 250 individual members. Based on preliminary results, RENEW MENA partners implemented 473 activities in 2023 that reached a total of 22,008 beneficiaries of which close to 75 percent are female.  

The conference in Amman, Jordan: May 20-23, 2024

This year’s event will bring together the RENEW MENA community with the aim to inspire and be inspired through an exchange of knowledge, experiences, and practical know-how around women’s economic participation and leadership in the energy sector. Key objectives include: i) showcasing progress from RENEW MENA partners and discussing achievements, ii) strengthening regional commitment to sustained action and foster collaboration and partnerships within the network, and iv) exchanging global and regional experiences toward a more gender diverse workforce in the MENA region. Interpretation will be provided in Arabic, English, French.
