South Asia Food, Agriculture & Rural Policy Platform

The South Asia Food, Agriculture & Rural (SAFAR) policy platform aims to provide key resources for policy dialogue, analysis and reform in the agri-food sector of the region.

Broadly, the platform enables the sharing of global policy learning documents of potential interest to policy protagonists in South Asia, and country-level information that can inform their analyses.

Our food systems must change rapidly and fundamentally in the coming decades to address South Asia’s critical populational, environmental and market imperatives – which includes increasing food supply by 2050 for an additional 450 million people in South Asia.

Countries’ policy framework and environment is a fundamental piece to meet this challenge, particularly in facilitating access to information that can support policy thinking and action underpinning the required transformation.
