The Solid Waste Management (SWM) Technical Deep Dive (TDD) strives to convey a deep understanding of Japan’s SWM system and approaches. The TDD will highlight 1) institutional and operational set-up within municipal administrations and enabling set-up by central governments including different policies, 2) financing and cost recovery of SWM and 3) modalities used for citizen engagement and behavioral change in Japan.
