The establishment of a “platform” enabling for global collaboration between industry, science, government and citizens to address the diverse and urgent challenges of the planet with digital means and potential will help to promote global coordination between stakeholders, strengthen each other and at the same time support the sustainable developments goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Defining the context in which and how digital “smart” products and services are and should be embedded, how digital platforms should be managed and communities promoted will help regain confidence and belief in the positive impact of digital means. FIWARE has shown in recent years not only why, but also how this can be achieved and implemented on a global scale.

The presentation will give an overview of the actual status of the technology framework of FIWARE for Smart Cities with special focus on the smart city coalition of cities with system interoperability, the right data governance framework that ensures data quality and accessibility  for citizens, and the green financing mechanism for local digital infrastructure (City OS), the governance structure of the FIWARE community and showcase latest achievements implemented across the globe, last but not least paint a picture for the future and invite global stakeholders to join the initiatives.
