Introduction of mass transportation systems in World Heritage Sties (Historic Centers)

Dear All,

I am interested in the introduction of mass transportation systems such as Metro, Light Rail and Bus Rapid Transit in World Heritage Sties, mainly historic centers.

If anyone has some literature that could recommend me about this topic, I really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Best regards,

Erik

    Dear Erik,

you might want to contact Geoffrey Read, a retired World Bank colleague of mine.  Geoffrey, is an engineer in water and sanitation sector and has worked all over the world, particularly in World Heritage Sites.  He was recognized publicly by the Bank's president Jim Kim for his Heritage work.  Geoffrey can point you in the right direction. Hope this helps.

    regards,

    Neil

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) are currently implementing a three line BRT system in Amman, Jordan. This has faced many heritage issues. I have some information but Ayman Smadi at GAM, who is the Project Manager, has much more if you are interested.
