Childcare Support

Childcare support plays a vital role in supporting working mothers. Offering in-house childcare facilities or providing financial assistance for creche services to all employees, regardless of gender, who have children can significantly enhance their retention within the workforce. 

Childcare support includes:

K-Electric’s Online Pregnancy Wellness Program

 

On November 2020 K-Electric launched the Pregnancy Wellness Program, designed to support and encourage the wellbeing of all of its female employees. The online learning module promotes healthy pregnancies while making efforts to boost vitality through prenatal nutrition, maternal and child health care. The module also provided training for managers on how to extend emotional and reorientation support to returning mothers.      


 

Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB)  allocates premises and a Day Care Facility with a capacity to accommodate at least 20 female employees, catering to the children of BPDB employees. 

 

Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC) and its subsidiaries offer Early Childhood Development and Daycare Facilities accessible to all employees, with approximately 100 employees utilizing these services. 

 

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) provides Childcare Leave for all eligible female employees.

 

     

Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) has a Daycare Center, serving a total of 50 employees, including 20 females. BREB also ensures a female doctor is available on-site, creating a medical-friendly workplace with a total of two doctors, one of whom is female.  

 

 

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) provides childcare facilities at two office locations, capable of supporting at least 20 female staff members.  

 

WAPDA has set up two Day Care Centers at their headquarters, equipped with six nannies and one security guard, catering to 30 children. These facilities are exclusively for female employees and are not available to male employees or for monetary allowances for childcare.    
WAPDA is in the process of expanding its daycare centers to other offices.  

 

Under K-Electric's new childcare assistance policy introduced in 2020, all eligible working mothers can apply for monthly reimbursements amounting to PKR 15,000 per family as a caregiver-at-home allowance. During pregnancy, KE's Health Team checks in with expecting mothers in each trimester, providing self-care e-modules.  

 

   Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) offers a Daycare Facility for lactating mothers.  

 

    Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) provides a Daycare Center, which is currently adequate for the needs but may consider expansion in the future based on assessments.  

 

 

 

    Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) 's Daycare Centre presently accommodates 20  working mothers with 32 children.  

 

 

In 2015, Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) established a daycare center at HQ, Thimphu, conveniently located within the BPC colony, offering support to working parents and ease their concerns regarding the well-being of their kids while they are at work.
