The availability of safe transportation options, such as onsite pick-and-drop services, is essential for ensuring the safety of working mothers. This is especially significant for women engineers working at electricity generation plants and transmission sites. An exemplary illustration is the aviation sector, which offers pick-and-drop services to women pilots and employees to enhance their safety. 


WePOWER Partners' initiatives in terms of Provision for Safe Tranportation

 

Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC) and its subsidiaries prioritize providing a "Safe and healthy working environment for women" and extend the use of office vehicles for official travels to women employees whenever possible.  

 

Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) places a paramount focus on women's safety in the workplace, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for all employees. Women working in shift systems are offered round-the-clock pick-up and drop facilities.  

 

 

 

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) reserves two preferential parking slots for expecting mothers. They can also skip the queue at the cafeteria for their convenience.  

 

 

In WAPDA, free transportation from home to the service station is provided for all employees, including pregnant women and working mothers. This includes WAPDA buses on 17 routes in Lahore, including the HQ route.  Moreover, mothers using Day Care Centers can utilize the transportation facility to commute together with their children.  

 

Karachi Electric (KE) offers "pick-and-drop (home to office and back)" services, including daycare centers, where needed, in all plants and customer service centers. The existing enrollment of 175 is maintained, and more females are encouraged to utilize the subsidized pick and drop facility, with transportation allowances provided.  

 

Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) ensures safe transportation (Pick & Drop) for female staff.
