USAID’s Engendering Industries program uses an integrated approach to increase gender equality and improve business performance in male-dominated industries worldwide. USAID is a strategic partner of WePOWER and has been collaborating to create synergies between WePOWER and Engendering Industries for more than five years. Engendering Industries partners have joined WePOWER and vice versa and there is a strong interest in mutual learning. Engendering Industries will soon join the WePOWER expert working group to help utilities adopt diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices and pilot behavior change interventions to increase equality in male-dominated workplaces.
In November 2023, Engendering Industries will launch its new flagship website, which provides technical resources and innovative tools for practitioners, implementers, and companies worldwide looking to increase gender equality across their workforce. The site will feature a new digital tool, Delivering Gender Equality: A Best Practices Framework for Male-Dominated Industries. The tool allows companies to complete a workplace gender equality assessment, identify gender equality gaps in their organization, select best practices to implement at each phase of the employee lifecycle, and build a tailored plan to advance gender equality. Engendering Industries updates the tool annually to reflect evolving international standards and cutting-edge gender equality research.
