Jun 5, 2024: Today, on World Environment Day, we celebrate our planet and recommit to protecting it. But let's be honest, the conversation often gets stuck on the "reduce, reuse, recycle" mantra.

Here's the critical question: We have mountains of research highlighting the crucial role women play in environmental protection. So why aren't we asking tougher questions about policy design and its implementation? No mention of women or gender in the National Green Hydrogen Mission of India. Why?

Where are the concrete action plans with gender at their core?

Are we gender auditing policies to know how the vision would be translated into equitable actions?

Did you know 3 sustainable development goals intersect at the nexus of gender, climate change, and social justice?

We need clear strategies for:

1. Gender Action Plans: These plans should outline concrete steps to empower women in environmental decision-making, resource management, and leadership positions within the green transition.

2. Decarbonization & Green Energy Pathways: How will these pathways specifically address the needs and expertise of women? Are there targeted initiatives to encourage female participation in these sectors?

Slogans are great for raising awareness, but true impact requires action plans with teeth.

What do you think?

Let's move beyond surface-level discussions and create a Green Transition that leverages the full power of women as environmental leaders.
