On 16 December 2025, WEN-Africa convened a high-impact virtual session bringing together practitioners, policymakers, utilities, and partners from across Africa to advance practical action on women’s participation in the energy sector.

The session focused on what works in practice—highlighting real-world approaches to attracting, retaining, and empowering women in energy. Participants heard actionable insights on STEM internships, scholarship pathways, institutional childcare models, and inclusive HR and leadership practices.

Speakers from the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MoWEM), Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO), Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU), and the Zambia Gender and Energy Network (ZGEN) shared honest reflections on challenges faced and solutions implemented, demonstrating how policy and institutional commitment translate into measurable impact.

The session also welcomed new partners and featured interactive engagement through live polls and open Q&A, reinforcing WEN-Africa’s commitment to shared learning, regional collaboration, and results-driven programming. Outcomes from this session will directly inform WEN-Africa’s next phase of engagement and initiatives.
