It is established that employment improves a woman's bargaining position in the household. However, very little is known about the potential spillover effects of female career advancement. This report offers evidence from field experiments in Bangladesh's garment industry which suggests that women's career advancement increases decision-making power in the household for promoted women as well as female staff who are exposed to new female supervisors as role models.
