The purpose of the document is to present a general diagnosis of the situation of the supply, trade and use of mercury (with emphasis on the artisanal and small-scale mining sector) in the Amazon Biome countries; the impacts of its use on the landscapes and populations of the biome; and the panorama of public, private and mixed initiatives at the domestic, regional and global levels aimed at counteracting this situation.
