Republic of Korea's "Supporting Female Farmers and Fisheries Act"

The purpose of this Act is to contribute to the development of agriculture and fisheries and the development of rural communities by actively supporting the protection of rights and interests of female farmers and female fishers, the advancement of their status, the ensuring of maternity rights, improvement of childcare circumstances, the enhancement of the quality of life, the promotion of specialized human resources, and the expansion of gender equality in rural communities. 

  • Article 3 (Responsibilities of the State and Local Governments): The State and each local government may formulate comprehensive policies and give necessary financial support for the development of capability, the advancement of the status, the ensuring of maternity rights, the improvement of childcare environment, the enhancement of quality of life of female farmers and fishers, and the promotion of gender equality in all areas of political, economic, social and cultural lives
  • Article 5 (Formulation of Master Plan): Important policy tasks referred to in the following items - (a) Improvement of the management ability of agriculture and fisheries; (b) Improvement of the status of female farmers and fishers; (c) Ensuring of maternity rights, improvement of childcare circumstances, and enhancement of the quality of life of female farmers and fishers; (d) Improvement of agricultural working conditions and creating a safe living environment for female farmers and fishers; (e) Promotion of gender equality by bridging the gender gap in agriculture and fisheries and rural communities
